The short answer to a complex question is YES. Debt settlement is a legal solution used by thousands of Americans to help them avoid bankruptcy. The theory behind debt settlement is very simple: negotiate deals with credit card companies that are mutually beneficial for both parties. This ultimately leads in the credit card company receiving a lump sum payment, and the consumer paying off the entire debt for a percentage of the outstanding balance. The greatest advantage for the credit card company is that they avoid any future problems with collecting on the debt, and any concession made on the creditor’s part is most obviously tax deductible. The consumer is at no time breaking any laws or committing any illegal acts.
So, if the answer is so simple, then why is the question so complicated? The problem with debt settlement is not the legality of the practice, but the ethics of those who practice it, namely debt settlement companies. Unfortunately, a number of unethical debt companies have been found to take advantage of consumers’ financial strife to boost business.
They essentially promise clients unrealistic results and then charge them outrageous administration fees for services they never provide. Thus, we see that legislation is not so much to protect credit card companies, but in fact to protect unknowing consumers. For this reason, a number of states are requiring debt settlement companies to complete forms and register activity with the state’s attorney General in order for them to be more easily tracked. This helps the government to identify unethical companies in a legal and ethical industry. The idea is to eliminate the companies that have.
So, if you are considering joining a Debt Settlement program, relax! What you are doing is legal, ethical, and morally correct; just make sure that the company you chose is also!

It seems that one can no longer read or hear anything, especially where athletics, athletes, and sports are concerned, without hearing the word “steroidsâ€. But, just what are steroids exactly? A very simple definition is “fatty substances which can naturally be found in the body, or can be artificially created.â€
Steroids usually fall into one of three categories:
NATURAL steroids include hormones, such as testosterone and estrogen, sterols, and cholesterol. The body makes these on its own, usually in the correct amounts.
CORTICOSTEROIDS, such as corticosterone and cortisol, are naturally-occurring. Others, such as prednisone and cortisone, are synthetic, or “man-madeâ€.
ANABOLIC STEROIDS are synthetic hormones that, when introduced to the body, acts almost exactly like the natural male hormone testosterone. These are the ones most commonly mentioned in references to steroid use in athletics, athletes, and sports.
Steroids are used to treat a variety of illnesses and ailments, or are sometimes given in conjunction with other medication, such as antibiotics, in order to enhance their effectiveness.
Now that the word “steroid†and the more commonly-used terms have been identified, attention can be given to the term legal steroids. In its proper setting, this term means any steroids, natural or synthetic, which are properly used for medical or pharmaceutical purposes Sometimes, however, “legal steroids†no longer become a term, but, rather, an “issueâ€. This is especially true in the sports field.
The problem may not be whether or not steroids—natural, synthetic, anabolic, or otherwise—is “legal†in the true sense of the word. If prescribed or recommended by health care professionals, and used in the manner in which they were intended, for the true purpose in which they were intended, then that is fine.
It is a known fact that steroids, both natural and anabolic, but most often anabolic, are used to improve performance in sports and athletics, or to “boost†what nature has already provided. Both professional and amateur athletes and sports participants do this. However, there are rules and regulations which clearly state whether or not this is allowable, and in what, if any, circumstances.
The decision to incorporate steroid use for performance enhancement or physical improvement is, and should be, personal. All factors should be weighed.

My mother is bed ridden and unable to go to a lawyer’s office to file bankruptcy papers for herself. I am wondering I am with my rights to do so on her behalf as her legal power of attorney?

legal and Ethical Obliagtions of Defense attorneys?
I am doing a paper on the “Legal and Ethical Obligations of Defense Lawyers”. I have found most of the legal obligations but i am struggling to differentiate between those and the ethical obligations.HELP! some possible books would be excellent.
Ethical obligations are set forth in the Rules of Professional Conduct in effect in the State in which one is admitted to practice. All legal obligations are also ethical obligations, since an attorney must, as a matter of ethics, obey the law. Violation of purely ethical obligations, on the other hand, can result in professional discipline, but don’t have force apart from the legal profession itself. I believe (though I could be wrong about this) that a violation of the RPC would not, in itself, amount to a cause of action for a lawsuit by a client. It could, however, result in your being reprimanded, suspended from practice, or disbarred.
