What minimum standards of ethics you have to conform to in advertisement language in your country?

Perhaps, every developed country on earth has a very strong set of advertising ethics. Perhaps, their legal framework does not allow them to work tricky languages in their advertisements; fake promises and misleading commitments etc. are subject to some strong punitive legal recourse. Would you love to have your comments please? Which country you are talking about?

In the USA we have only our self control. There is very little ethicial control. We do have a TRUTH IN ADVERTISING law. We can’t say that a product will make a person 12 inches taller when it won’t, but the most a person would recieve in compensation is probably thier purchase price back. The leagal action would not be taken unless someone was severely harmed or killed because the cost of an attourney is high and the outcome is not sure.
