What are the pros and cons of going to law school? What kind of job prospects are there in law right now?

I’m considering going to grad school in a number of different areas, and law is one of them.

Job prospects are very weak right now. Private firms have been laying a lot of people off, and public entities almost all have hiring and salary freezes.
Pros:
– You might really like it if legal reasoning matches your intellectual interests
– You could potentially get a lucrative and/or fulfilling job, after you get your degree and after the recession is over
– Wide variety of jobs/careers available to people with JDs
Cons:
– You might hate the law school experience — many people do
– It’s generally very expensive
– You might have trouble getting a job and be stuck with massive student loans
