What kind of job could I get in the public relations field w/ a law degree?

I am currently in law school and had an epiphany that I want to pursue a career in public relations. I don’t have any experience in PR, but I know that is the industry I want to be in when I graduate. What kind of job could I get in this field while still using my law degree? I am most interested in crisis management. What should I be doing to break into this industry? Fyi..I am in NY

That’s a great question, and I don’t have a precise answer for you, but in case you don’t get a good answer I can give you some advice on how to get an answer….

Contact the PR offices of some top companies in the area and explain that you’re a student and would like to know if you could speak to them about the PR industry. It might take a few calls, but you’ll probably find someone willing to talk to you for a few minutes and give you some INSIDE advice on what to do.

It’s what I did when I was failing my EE degree….”Great, I have all this math background…what do I do with it?” I thought about Economics and Finance…I called the treasurer of MY bank, and sure enough he invited me in to talk about the Finance career field. And 11 years later I get to be a VP at Washington Mutual….WEEEEEEEE! Oh wait….this sucks.
