Is it wrong to hang up on solicitors?
I don’t get telemarketing calls (I only have a cell phone) but I do get solicitors calling once in a while. I feel so guilty hanging up on them because I know they’re just doing their job.
But if I say I am not interested, they always keep talking and say “But, wait…” yadda yadda yadda.
So what to do? (I guess I have too much on a concious) But I don’t have time to listen either. Most of the time there’s a catch anyways
i am usually very pleasant and say “I am not interested. Thank you for calling” and if they keep talking, i simply hang up.
You are not obligated to continue speaking to someone who is rude and will not stop the conversation, especially since they are calling on your phone, have determined the time they call you and are not courteous enough to say “goodbye”.
Just imagine you are in a life and death situation. Would you feel guilty about hanging up? Say, you were driving and their phone call distracted you and you noticed you were going to plunge your car over a cliff. Would you simply hang up, or let them continue?
