What do you think of this Texas hold em starting hand sheet?
http://www.pokerjesusonline.com/starting_hand_chart.htm
I’m completely new to the game and though it would be good to memorize something like this.
I understand this model would just be a very loose guideline
How would this chart vary if the game was short handed.
Are there any hands that turn sour easily? i would assume that if a Big Slick unsuited doesn’t improve considerably on the flop it quickly becomes a terrible hand.
i think the chart is ok, but i don’t think that big blind play is done very well for a limit game…whether or not you defend your big blind in limit hold ‘em has a lot to do with the players and with the position that the raise came from…are you really expecting us to muck A-9 offsuit for one more bet to a button raise? come on, that’s just ridiculous…another point of contention is that the chart recommends calling a raise and a re-raise cold from out of position with K-Q suited and A-10 suited, which is almost never mathematically correct against the range of starting hands that most people put in re-raises with…finally, i think you would give way too many free flops by following this chart, you should be trying to put your money in with the best hand and in an unraised pot hands like 9-9, 8-8, 7-7, and A-J rate to be the best hand
for short-handed play, all the hands listed on the chart and some hands that you don’t have listed are definitely calling hands from the big blind…also, any pair and other hands that the chart has people folding like K-J offsuit become raising hands and you can basically forget limping in before the flop, either raise or fold
