Choice of grad school? Have a hard time choosing?

Hi, I recently graduated from a CUNY school with a biochem B.A. I’m looking for a job and stuck btwn law/business school. I might do a PhD but lab work is so boring. I tutored math at a high school, was an intern for a AIDS organization and was a cashier. Im having a hard time finding an entry level job so i figured i would start studying. how is the market now for lawyers/business women? i’m good at math and science and i would like a career that enables me to do so.
any advice for someone lke me out there?
should i start a small internship at a big company (if i can even get one?) or should i start grad school for a PhD.
By the way, my GPA is around 3.47
med school is out, you should see how many MDs are in new york

Well, with the economy being the way it is and jobs being hard to get, I would recommend doing an internship. It’s the easiest way to get your foot in the door with a company. The reason for this being is because a company can have someone do a job for cheap or even free as opposed to having to pay someone a salary. Then after you have worked there for a few months or maybe a semester, they will usually hire you for a full time position (if you did well). It’s easier to get a job after an internship because your employer already knows what you can do, and you’re already trained and used to working with a company as opposed to someone else who’s looking for a job. Don’t go to grad school unless you really want to, and most of them these days prefer people who have had experience in the working world. Also you need to get a masters before you get a PhD. But yea get a job in the working world so that you can find out what you like and don’t like so that then if you decide to go back to school, you’ll know what you’d like your concentration to be.

Ok so I live in New York City and I work security. It is the most boring job that I have ever had. You stand around or sit around and so nothing for some hours on end. I’m in college for Criminal Justice at John Jay and in the future I want to work in corrections or as a detective. So my question is, what can I do for work while I’m in college? I want something that can somehow relate to law/enforcement/counseling or anything relative to my major. Working at the Gap or as a waitress for instance isn’t really getting me relative experience if you understand what I mean. I just want something not as boring as security. Any ideas please give them to me. Thanks alot in advance.

It may be tough with out having finished your degree/certification to get a job in these fields. However, there are many jobs that may start out as internships and end up in paid positions. Does your school post possible internships or volunteer positions?

Boys and Girls Club, Samaratins, shelters for the homeless are always in need of people. Some positions are paid, others volunteer. All will give you great experience that is relevant to your future career. You may be able to get trained as a dispatcher for an ambulance service, fire station or police station, but I am not sure of the qualifications. Its worth asking though!

You should be able to practice law in any state. You won’t learn a whole lot of state-specific law in law school, unless you take a class specifically on Alabama law. Such a class might be offered as an elective, covering a topic like Alabama civil procedure, for example. Otherwise, you won’t have any more trouble practicing law in California as you would if you were to stay in Alabama.

The government requires it.

The latest development is that she’s disregarding the restrctions the Texas Supreme Court said she could put in place, in favor of a ruling virtually identical to her original, reversed decision. She has no respect for any parental rights (breastfeeding? Hah. Religion? You must be kidding). She established unheard of standards to remove over 400 children from their homes with only one evidencial hearing, and cooperated with CPS to make sure children in its “care” had no freedom whatsoever to practice their own religion (even the Book of Mormon was seized. All prayer mettings had to be supervised – judge Walther even suggested supervision by a “member of the mainstream Mormon church”).

I was at a party, i had one sip of alcohol, I was clearly not intoxicated. The party had more than 40 kids at it. My friend and I were outside and ran and hid in the back of her vehicle as soon as we saw cops coming. the cops came and checked the vehicle got us out and gave us a ticket for possession of alcohol with intent to consume.( im 18) Then they left with out giving anyone else inside the party tickets. We have a court date as well. Iv never been in trouble and Im in the military, I want to go to Law School. I was wondering if there is a way to get out of the ticket (the car was not mine), or how this will affect my record, my license, and my chances of getting a job in the future.
Should i get a lawyer? Or should i write a letter to the court? Also could I be charged as child because i just turned 18 a month ago?

You are in the military and you were busted for possession of alcohol by an under-aged person in NY State … OUCH!

You really need at least one lawyer! The first round of charges will come from the state of NY … conviction can result in fines of more than $500.00, loss of driving privileges for one year (even if you were not driving when cited for the offense) … and probation or community service. The officer did not have to prove you were drunk, just that you were in possession of alcohol. The smell of alcohol on your breath from that “one sip” was enough.

Get a civilian lawyer for the NY charges … and an expert in military law for the possible charges from the military!

Common Traits Of Personal Injury Lawyer New York Specialized

There are a few things about a personal injury lawyer New York specialized that a person may not think about but are true. For one thing, people tend to be very intimidated by lawyers. Although this maybe true, people ultimately find that personal injury lawyers want to help people. Also people do not often think about it as a trait but lawyers are also very knowledgeable about laws in general.

People are often intimidated by the thought of going to see a personal injury lawyer New York specialized. This is sometimes because of how formal an environment seeing a lawyer can be. A person is not just calling another person when one is seeing a lawyer. A person is usually calling a secretary and setting up a special appointment. This kind of formality can cause stress and anxiety. Also a personal injury lawyer New York specialized is also very well spoken and confident. For some people, the more confident the person that they are talking to is, the less confident they become. A strong and outgoing personality is sometimes what makes a great lawyer. Unfortunately this can also cause potential clients to be intimidated away.

People do not often think about the ways in which a personal injury lawyer New York specialized is actually helping people. For starters they are helping the person that they are representing in any lawsuits. This person gets some kind of compensation for their injuries. This compensation can go to pay off medical bills or potentially even more than that. A person who is grievously injured in a personal accident may not be able to work. More than just the person he or she is representing however is being helped by the personal injury lawyer New York specialized. Really, the prosecution of those causing injuries to others is helping all of society. Pointing out these ways in which people are being injured are very important to society indeed.

Something people do not often think about when considering a personal injury lawyer New York specialized is how intelligent he or she is. One would have to be really in order to do his or her job successfully. A lawyer in general needs to go to many years of school. They need to read tons of cases and get a real understanding of the law that they are later going to try to uphold. Your average person usually assumes that any lawyer has done some amount of studying in order to pass the bar and work as a lawyer. This does not fully appreciate the sheer amount of reading that a lawyer must do. Especially, this is true for a personal injury lawyer New York specialized. They after all need to be very familiar with case law from out of state as well so that they can do their job to their best ability.

I am about to be a 3L at a Mid-Tier law school in New York City. My GPA is a 2.9. What is your advice? If I put forth the effort, I can probably manage straight As (as the only reason I scored so low in the past was that I rarely did the work). My college GPA was a 3.9 cumaltive, so I CAN BE a good student if I choose to be. But is it worth it? Do law students get jobs with grades like mine or a tad better? What would be the effect of acing my third year after such a lackluster showing anyway? Thanks.

“open4one” said it all! Listen up and good luck!
