Legality of photocopying official documents?
such as UK passport, birth certificate, driving licence.
My employers have asked me to bring these documents in so that they can photocopy them for their records but I have been told that copying legal documents such as these is illegal.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if so, do I have the right to refuse my employers request?
Yes, I know it’s standard practice and generally accepted, but where do I stand if I refuse to let them have the documents?

Technically it’s illegal and probably goes against the data protection act too but it’s accepted practice.
